A Goofy Movie - Extremely Goofy Movie
Plot:
It is the last day of the school year for Goofy's teenaged son Max, who has a plan to shed his "Goof" label and impress his crush, Roxanne. Max and his two friends PJ and Bobby hijack the auditorium stage in the middle of Principal Mazur's speech, creating a small concert where Max performs while costumed as Powerline, a famous pop superstar (who is in a Michael Jackson/Bobby Brown mold). The performance succeeds in making Max a school celebrity, but Mazur puts it to a halt and the trio of friends are sent to his office.
While waiting outside Mazur's office, Roxanne talks to Max and they both agree to go together to a party that Roxanne's friend and student body president, Stacey, is holding to watch Powerline's latest concert on pay-per-view. Unknown to Max, Mazur calls Goofy while at work, (his job is a supermarket children's photographer), reporting Max's actions as "dressed as a gang member, your son caused the entire student body to break into a riotous frenzy!" Believing that Max's exhibiting behavior that will lead him to a life of criminality ending in the electric chair, Goofy decides it is time to re-establish his relationship with his son, which has drifted apart over the years.
Goofy decides to take Max on a fishing trip to Lake Destiny in Idaho, on the same route he and his father took years before. Max tries to dissuade his father, but is shoved into the family car, a yellow AMC Pacer Wagon, and the holiday begins, but not before Max visits Roxanne at her house to tell her the news. When Roxanne disappointingly mentions possibly finding someone else to go with to the party, Max quickly creates a lie claiming he and Goofy are going to the Powerline concert in Los Angeles and will be on stage with Powerline. Roxanne, though initially dubious, falls for it. Goofy and Max head out on their uneasy road trip, but it is not incredibly fun as Goofy hoped.
Max is humiliated at Lester's Possum Park, having an opossum leap down his pants and then dragged into a country dance by Goofy. They also watch an out-of-date country folk jamboree of animatronic possums (parodying The Country Bear Jamboree), which malfunction halfway through the show. They unexpectedly run into Pete and PJ; and are chased by Bigfoot during a fishing practice session involving Goofy's Perfect Cast technique.
While stranded in their car by Bigfoot, Max changes the road map in the direction of Los Angeles while his dad is asleep. The next day, Goofy pronounces Max as official navigator of the trip while they stop at a roadside diner, unaware of the change in direction. The two go places where Max or Goofy likes and the two rebound their relationship and have fun. Goofy later discovers the switched map when Pete overhears a conversation between Max and PJ, and feels shocked and betrayed.
Goofy and Max later approach a highway junction where left goes to Los Angeles, right to Idaho. In a panic, Max picks left. Not too happy with this, Goofy angrily stops the car at a mountain viewpoint but forgets to put the brakes on, which causes the car to go onto the road when Max leans against it. As the two Goofs pursue the car down the road, eventually landing in a river on the car, they get into an argument. Max clued in to his dad discovering the switched map, and stated he's not a kid anymore, and that he wants his own life. The argument concludes with Goofy saying that he just wanted to be part of Max's life as he grew, and Max explaining why he wanted to go to the Powerline concert in the first place. Goofy then tells Max he'll take him to L.A. just as the two approach a waterfall. Goofy tries to save Max's life by using a fishing pole, but the current sweeps the car and them off the edge. Max gets caught up in a tarp that turns into a parachute, saving his life. He then saves his dad by using the Perfect Cast technique.
Goofy and Max arrive in Los Angeles on the night of the concert, accidentally splitting up. Goofy is pushed into an electrical ball and flies out onto the stage where Powerline is performing his song. As convinced by Max, Goofy does the Perfect Cast technique in a freestyle version as a dance style, and everybody is impressed by it, including Powerline, who then also performs it as well. Max is chased by a security guard up onto the stage's lights, but Max crashes down onto the stage between Goofy and Powerline. The three break into dance with everyone cheering for them. Roxanne, Stacey, PJ, Pete, Bobby, and others watch the concert from various televisions surprised by their performances.
The next day, Goofy and Max pull up outside Roxanne's house in the remains of the car. Max reveals to Roxanne he lied to her about mostly everything but she instantly forgives him, revealing herself she has liked him for a long time, ever since he first laughed the classic "Ahyuck" which he was embarrassed about before. The two make a deal to not lie anymore, sealing it with a kiss. Goofy's car blows up and he flies through the air, crashing through the roof of Roxanne's house where Max introduces him to Roxanne.
Plot:
It is an important time in Max's life, for he is college-bound with his friends P.J. and Bobby. Believing himself to be free of his father, he strives to work together with his friends to become the top team at the college X-Games. Upon arriving, Max quickly gets himself noticed by "Gamma Mu Mu" fraternity sports team who are the reigning X-Games champions, in particular their leader, Bradley Uppercrust III. Bradley invites Max to join his fraternity, but Max refuses if he cannot bring his friends along with them. A rivalry starts between Max's team and Bradley's team, and they bet whoever loses in the finals will be towel-boy to the other.
Complications arise when Goofy is fired from his job due to an accident he caused. To make things worse, as Goofy only spent 3 years in college during the 1970s, he can't get another well-paying job unless he spends one more year to obtain a college degree. To his son's mortification, Goofy joins him at the campus to achieve the degree. Desperate to distract his father, Max talks him into joining the competing "Gamma Mu Mu" fraternity team, which works. Additionally, Goofy meets and befriends the college librarian, Sylvia Marpole, who shares his nostalgic love for the 1970s. Romance soon blossoms between Goofy and Sylvia, and they decided to go for a date that coming Saturday, which becomes a spectacular success with them dominating the dance floor with classic disco.
Although Max is initially supportive of Goofy's "distractions", tensions start to rise between them when Goofy beats Max in the first round during the X-Games qualifiers, though his success is due to luck and one of Bradley's machinations implemented on Goofy's skateboard. After the qualifiers, Max angrily snaps out and yells at Goofy to "Leave me alone and get your own life!!!". Max's rejection causes Goofy to lose his focus, forgetting his date with Sylvia and failing his first midterm. He eventually regains his focus and makes up with Sylvia, who then helps him study for his makeup exam, which he passed with straight-A's. Additionally, Goofy decides to quit the Gammas, not wanting to compete with Max at all, but once he leaves, he decides he should return his pledge pin, then he overhears that they are planning to cheat in the final X-Games events. Goofy tries to warn Max about this, but Max refuses to believe him.
At the X-Games semi-finals, Bradley and the Gammas repeatedly cheat in various obvious ways, but are not caught, eliminating all the teams besides Max's. Just before the final race, when the cheating Gammas get P.J. out of the way, Max apologizes to Goofy and asks him to join his team in order to avoid being disqualified for being one player short and Goofy gladly accepts. In the final race, one of Bradley's cheating maneuvers backfires when a giant wire-and fabric X-Games logo falls on Tank, one of Bradley's minions. Bradley flees for safety, but Max and Goofy decide to help Tank escape. Tank then turns on Bradley for ditching him, while Max wins the X-Games final, achieving a grand-prize trophy.
Once the term is over, Goofy receives his college degree and leaves Max to his own devices at college. Goofy and Sylvia drive off at a beach, implying that their future will be together.
