Asher Roth The GreenHouse Effect

The easy way out is to say Pennsylvania MC Asher Roth sounds like Eminem. The truth is, on his new internet mixtape, The Greenhouse Effect: Volume 1, Roth emerges as a clever pop-culture-savvy wordsmith who foregoes cramming 4,000 syllables into four beats in favor of a mellow, De La Soul-like cadence. The resulting verses are as insightful, inclusive, and hilarious than Slim Shady’s best. His Weezer-sampling, frat-pandering future smash, “I Love College,” is no “Ode To Joy,” but it comes off as a slightly shaky start to a lasting, quality career.
