SAVANNAH (AP) -- The rapper Camoflauge, whose homespun albums made him a celebrity in Savannah while flirting with greater fame, was fatally shot while walking with his toddler son outside his recording studio.
The 21-year-old rapper, whose real name was Jason Johnson, died Monday evening at a local hospital after he was shot outside Pure Pain Records in midtown Savannah.
His son was not hurt. Police had made no arrests Tuesday.
Acting Police Chief Willie Lovett formed a task force to investigate whether Johnson's death was related to recent violence including two other killings, and whether retribution might be involved.
With songs including "Cut Friends" and "Laying My Stunt Down," the dreadlock-tressed Camoflauge had become a celebrity in his hometown. He released his third album, "Keeping It Real," in August on independent Pure Pain.
He was often seen hanging out near the recording studio, flashing gold teeth and wads of money, and driving around town in a Ford Expedition with his face and name painted on the side. At Christmas, he would bring gifts to housing projects dressed as "Camo Claus" in a red suit and beard.
"He watched out for the community, not just himself," said local fan Diane Bryan. "He didn't kick us to the curb. He was trying to get Savannah on the map."
Camoflauge's background formed the perfect "gangsta rap" resume. He grew up in Savannah's public housing projects, had a record of arrests on drug possession charges and suffered minor injuries in a shooting last year.
He also spent three months in jail in 2000 charged with murder in the shooting death of 17-year-old Kenneth Capers. Camoflauge was released after a grand jury failed to indict him.
Lovett said a $2,500 reward would be paid for information leading to arrests in the deaths of Camoflauge, Felix Michael Scott and Michael Grant.
Early Tuesday, detectives identified a suspect named Dorian Orr in the shooting of Grant on Saturday. The police also issued a new wanted poster on Stephen Edward Roston for a recent aggravated assault, although they did not indicate a connection to the recent slayings.
The same month Capers was slain, Camoflauge's first Pure Pain album, "I Represent," climbed to No. 58 on the Billboard Rhythm and Blues/ Hip Hop chart.
Universal Records signed Camoflauge for his follow-up album, "Strictly 4 Da Streets: Sex, Drugs and Violence, Vol. 1." But the major label dropped the rapper soon after its release.
"He's the first person from Savannah to make it big. Not MTV big, but big for Savannah," said 16-year-old fan Sierra McCoy, who lives in one of the housing projects where Camoflauge grew up and considers the rapper an inspiration.
Many considered the rapper a role model despite his violent, profanity-laced lyrics and brushes with the law. Savannah high schools would invite Camoflauge to host pep rallies. In 2001, he was invited to appear at a Father's Day celebration at Savannah's Daffin Park.

[ KING JAMES ]
Lebron James .. to me he is the greatest basketball player in the association . The most dominate on the court .
LeBron James (born December 30, 1984(1984-12-30)) is an American professional basketball player who currently plays for the Cleveland Cavaliers of the National Basketball Association. Commonly nicknamed "King James" and "The Chosen One", the Akron, Ohio-born James was highly promoted in the national media as a future NBA star while still in high school, and was named Ohio's "Mr. Basketball" three times. At the age of 18, he was selected with the first overall pick in the 2003 NBA Draft by the Cavaliers.
Before his NBA debut, James signed an unprecedented US$90 million shoe contract with Nike. He has since set numerous youngest player records. In his first season, he received the NBA Rookie of the Year Award and in the following three seasons received All-NBA and All-Star honors. He led the Cavaliers to back-to-back playoff appearances in 2006 and 2007; the latter year the team advanced to the Conference Finals for the first time since 1992 and the NBA Finals for the first time in Cleveland's history.
James is listed as a small forward, but can also play point guard and shooting guard. This versatility has led to his unofficial classification as a "point forward". James was born an only child in a low-income area of Akron, Ohio to Gloria James on December 30, 1984. Gloria James was around the age of 16 at the time and just six months shy of graduating from high school. Moving frequently from one home to another, situations began to somewhat improve for James when his mother began a relationship with Eddie Jackson. James did not have much contact with his biological father and Jackson became a father figure to him. He regularly attended James' high school basketball games.

Freshman - James attended St. Vincent - St. Mary High School in Akron. He was the starting point guard for the team. The team finished with a perfect 27-0 record and won the Division III state championship.
Sophomore - Lebron James took over the team after Carter's graduation and averaged 25.2 points, 7.2 rebounds, 5.8 assists and 3.8 steals for SVSM en route to another state title. He was subsequently named Ohio's "Mr. Basketball" and selected to the USA Today All-USA First Team ó the first sophomore to receive each of these honors. James was also an avid football player, and was named First-Team All-State as a wide receiver. However, injury concerns led James to concentrate solely on basketball.
Junior - In James' junior year his stats improved again. He averaged 29.0 points, 8.3 rebounds, 5.7 assists and 3.3 steals and was again named Mr. Basketball of Ohio. He also earned a spot on the All-USA First Team, and was named the 2001-02 Gatorade National Boys Basketball Player of the Year. It was at this time that his nickname "King" James would become a household staple in Ohio. Dubbed "The Chosen One" by Sports Illustrated, James was the first high school basketball player on the cover since Kevin Garnett. LeBron James appeared in SLAM Magazine, which began his nationwide exposure. However, the St. Vincent-St. Mary basketball team failed to defend its state title when it moved up to the more challenging Division II and lost to Cincinnati's Roger Bacon High School. James attempted to declare for the NBA Draft, petitioning for an adjustment to the NBA's draft eligibility rules which, at the time, required prospective players to have at least completed high school. The petition was unsuccessful, but it led to an unprecedented level of attention on him as he entered his senior year. By then, James had already appeared on the covers of Sports Illustrated and ESPN The Magazine. His popularity forced his team to move their practices from the school gym to the nearby James A. Rhodes Arena at the University of Akron. NBA stars such as Shaquille O'Neal attended the games, and a few of James's high school games were even televised nationally on ESPN2 and regionally on pay-per-view.
Senior - Gloria James created a firestorm of controversy when she was allowed to use her son's future earning power as collateral to secure a bank loan to buy an $80,000 Hummer H2 for her son's 18th birthday. The event prompted an investigation by the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA). Under the OHSAA guidelines, no amateur may accept any gift valued over $100 as a reward for athletic performance. When James later accepted two throwback basketball jerseys worth $845 from NEXT, an urban clothing store in Shaker Square, in exchange for his posing for pictures to be displayed on the store's walls, OHSAA stripped him of his eligibility. James appealed and a judge blocked the ruling, reducing the penalty to a two-game suspension and allowing him to play the remainder of the season. However, James's team was forced to forfeit one of their wins as a result. Despite the distractions, the Irish won a third state title, and James averaged 31.6 points, 9.6 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 3.4 steals. James was named to the All-USA First Team, and for an unprecedented third time, was selected as Mr. Basketball Ohio. He earned MVP honors at the McDonald's All-American Game, the EA Sports Roundball Classic, and the Jordan Capital Classic. Although it was a foregone conclusion, by participating in more than two high school all-star events, James officially lost his NCAA eligibility. When i was in fourth grade this was like one of the local rappers i use to listen to & The Grind Family ..
haven't heard of them .. Google them .. I was inspired by basically 50/50 & the Grind Family ... Soope http://www.myspace.com/soopegrind & a couple more local rappers ... Like the end of fourth grade .. summer was approaching ... My two bothers & i decided to come up with a rap group
known as HBM [ Heart Break Mafia ] the whole summer after coming from baseball practice & before baseball practice i used to
carry a backpack with my gear, composition book, & pencil . My uncles used to start a cipher like everyday . I really learned how to rhyme from them . They didn't know i could rap , i used to try & jump in the cipher & spit my crayola bars haha . It was crazy . I had fun & like really got hooked on music . So by me writing everyday during that summer i got better over time .
When fifth grade came around i was ready for whatever .. recess , lunch time , bathrooms , hallways , teachers lounge , Gym class .. me & my niggas was getting it popping through the whole school .. My nigga CJ was like one of the best besides me .. Time went by .. Now him and his group S.O.M.

Well really this afternoon because its approximately 3:14 im just now waking up once again in the studio late working on these mixtapes didn't sleep until 6 am sun was rising when i closed my eyes . It's going by good so far woke up to Fear & Loathing in New Orleans blasting through the head phones && this particular meal right here ...
On behalf of that .. my opinion on the meal was great that Java Monster Mean Bean Coffee Energy drink kicking my ass right now
im like SUPER CHARGED !! feel like going to play basketball .. but it's raining outside so i guess i'll just work out . Haven't been blogging in a minute so i guess i'll let the people know what's been going on . GTG is still GTG no one left the group if that's what you thinking just had a separation decided to do solo projects ya know . I'm still keeping the internet pumping everyday
with new videos && hot verses for that music page .. still writing everyday cause i do it for my city [ East Chicago , Indiana ] .
They so loyal .. Rude & Reckless still poppin out there imma fucks with them when i get back home . Which will probably be a
year later .. been gone almost a year . Still got love for them tho . Death Before Dishonor is still a movement fuck what a hater

New music new talent .
Well its around one am and im just sitting here chilling listening to Kid Cudi .. Rome's & Swave in the building GTG !! . Anywho i was searching the web before i decided to post this blog && i was on here checking shit out .. if you fucks with GTG you should know what im talking about but yeah man i just noticed that there are people out there that really listens to my music && watch my videos etc etc . Okay so i been promising those who support me that Indianimal mixtape .. Some people don't know that the mixtape is already complete . I just havent had the chance to hit the studio but now im starting to learn how to engineer && mixing my own tracks . I just made a music page && i promise y'all you will be very pleased amused && hopefully excited as much as me when i upload the tracks i've created . Like i said before im just now learning how to mix && all that other good stuff .. I stayed up to 5 am yesterday recording . Sorry mamii she hates when i don't get rest .
